A memo released by the RCMP has declared that 80% lower receivers for AR-15 rifles are prohibited because they can be “adapted for use” in prohibited M-16 rifles.
The RCMP has begun to circulate a bulletin declaring the prohibited status of 10/22 magazines capable of containing greater than 10 rounds.
Magazines for the 10/22 rifle that can contain more than 10 rounds are being treated as prohibited, gun stores being instructed to remove them from shelves.
Bill C-230, tabled by MP Larry Miller in February, seeks to define the term “variant”. However, critics call it a risk to firearms in Canada.
Bill S-231 may be titled “Strengthening Canadians’ Security and Promoting Hunting and Recreational Shooting” but make no mistake – this bill is not in the best interest of Canadian law-abiding gun owners.
The .50 Beowulf magazines may now potentially be prohibited devices.
